Roatan Honduras
Restaurant Guide

The Roatan Honduras Restaurant guide reviews the good news and bad news about Roatan restaurants.

The good news is that they are very inexpensive and the value is very good. The bad news is that you need to sit back and relax and endure the very slow and in-efficient service. While there an abundance of restaurants of all types, there is a scarcity fine dining, gourmet restaurants that are available in other Caribbean Islands like St. Martin, Aruba, Puerto Rico or the Cayman Islands.

The reviews are based on local Roatan standards for fine dining.

Above Average Restaurants

Argentinean Grille
This West End restaurant serves up outstanding food with good service at a reasonable price. Their tenderloin beef dishes are exceptional in taste and value. The Russian potato salad that comes with the entrée is sumptuous. Save room for the dessert, their black lemon cake covered with chocolate is outstanding.

Gio’s
This French Harbour restaurant serves up excellent king crab legs and seafood dishes. The king crab legs are caught locally and served fresh and cooked in a garlic sauce to enhance the taste. This place is popular with the locals and it is suggested you make a reservation for a table on the outside deck, otherwise you are likely to be seated in an inside dining room where one of them is not air conditioned.

The Light House
They offer good seafood and outdoor dining overlooking the harbor. Very inexpensive. Lobster tails and the Key Lime pie were excellent. Sit back and relax, the service is poor.

Luna Beach resort.
They serve up very good food with fresh ingredients and tasty preparations, service is good. Price is higher than most other Roatan restaurants but still good by Caribbean standards

Mangiamo Market and Delicatessen
Located in West Bay, this deli offers the best takeout sandwiches on the Island. The sandwiches are European/American made with fresh ingredients, cold cuts and bread. You can get an excellent Philly cheese sandwich here. They also have a variety of food for stocking your vacation kitchen.

The Noodle Shack
This Asian restaurant a great place for noodles and vegetarian dishes. The portions are huge and you can build your own noodle noodle with choices of meat, vegetables and sauce. The prices are very reasonable and the view from the view on the large gazebo is awesome.

Rendezvous Sushi Cafe
This tiny restaurant on the beach serves up excellent sushi. The owners, Eric and Lila, are friendly and accommodating and go out of their way to please. The food is fresh and the sushi is prepared on site. This is a must place to dine on Roatan if you enjoy well prepared Japanese eclectic food with in a nice beach front ambiance.

Sundowners
Located on the beach at Half Moon Bay this is the place to go to watch the sunset while having a drink and dinner. While the food is good and prepared fresh, it is not creative. They offer a pub type menus with a variety of choices from burgers to fresh catch of the day specials. The prices are reasonable and it tends to be vary popular from just before sunset to around 8 pm, and closes around at 10 pm.

Tong's Thai Island Cuisine
This waterfront restaurant in the West End serves up excellent Thai food. For the best experience, get there early. The seating on the deck is limited and the sunset attracts an early crowd. Though more pricey than other similar Asian Restaurants, the quality of food is outstanding and the value is good.

The View
The View is located on one of the highest points in Roatan and overlooks both the north and south coast.

While the seating is outdoors with an awesome view overlooking the hillside and reefs, the tables are wood and utensils are placed on paper napkins. The reason to come to this restaurant is the view and the food, both are outstanding they offer a variety of seafood and meat dishes that are well prepared, fresh and tasty. The salads with fresh spinach and lettuce can be made up with shrimp, chicken. The steak is tender and tasty. Save room for dessert, their chocolate bred pudding is sumptuous. The restaurant is inexpensive and the service is good. Cash only.
