The Cayman Islands Restaurant guide is a review of the restaurants frequented by tourists. There are many outstanding restaurants, although most are pricey, with a wide variety of gourmet international dishes and award winning wine lists to choose from.

 


Reviews Of The best restaurants In Grand Cayman

The Brasserie
This elegant, upscale restaurant, located away from the tourist center of Seven Mile Beach, is set in an attractive office building complex where many local business men from the banking industry are often found entertaining clients. The décor is old world Caribbean with a British flare, complete with high ceilings and fans, carved teakwood, and mahogany furniture. The food is well prepared with international French, Asian, Indian dishes integrated with Caribbean flavorings. Popular favorites include; Lamb shank with caramelized shallots; Seven-spice breast of duck and pineapple glaze; and fresh locally caught seafood.

Cecil's Restaurant - Kaibo Beach Bar & Grill
Located at the Kaibo Yacht Club, this restaurant has the feel of Polynesia with tropical torches, multilevel terraces, and palm thatched huts. The setting is friendly and fun like, especially around the beach front bar. For more serious, sophisticated food, head up the steps to Cecil’s for a memorable dining experience. Chef Jerry Mixon, trained by New Orleans’ Paul Prudhomme, presides over a kitchen that serves up imaginative and well prepared dishes, many with a New Orleans Creole flair. Try the popular Louisiana crab cakes served with a Creole rémoulade sauce or the Baked oysters topped with spinach and cheese appetizers for starters. Popular entrees include; Pan-seared tuna with a honey-sesame-soy-ginger sauce; grilled filet steak, stuffed with bleu cheese and served with onion sauce seared catfish with a Louisiana crawfish sauce; and Voodoo chicken, blackened and served with Creole sauce.

Grand Old House
The Grand Old House is located on a former plantation amongst beautiful tall trees and the main house and gazebos propped up on posts. The food is well prepared with fresh ingredients artistically presented. For starters, try the Marinated conch with tomato, cilantro, and lime; or the Tequila- snow crab and lobster with a mango gazpacho and spicy cucumber noodles. The popular entrees include the Baked shrimp and scallops gratin in white wine; Chilean sea bass in balsamic syrup on a sweet-potato mash with a candied-lemon-and-mango beurre blanc; and The Grilled tenderloin of beef wrapped in bacon and topped with melted Gorgonzola cheese.

Hemmingway's
Located in the heart of the tourist activity on Seven Mile Beach, you can dine indoors or under the stars overlooking the ocean. They serve up some of the best seafood on the island; imaginatively prepared with a local Caribbean twist. Popular favorites include; the Coconut shrimp with a mango marmalade accent; Pistachio-crusted lamb with baby artichokes, white beans, and crispy eggplant; Potato-crusted sea bass with banana, light cheese, salsa, and fresh pineapple; and the fish catches of the day.

Lighthouse at Breakers
Located on the south shore, about 30 minutes away from the tourist activity of Seven Mile Beach, they have attractive ocean views with well prepared meals and fresh ingredients. For starters, try the Portobello-mushroom carpaccio with Gorgonzola; or the Tuna sushi rolled in sesame seeds. Popular entrees include the Veal chop topped with gorgonzola and pancetta; Fettuccine Mediterranean with seasonal vegetables; and the Mixed seafood grill in a lemon butter sauce.

Ristorante Pappagallo
This popular Italian-Caribbean fusion restaurant serves up excellent dishes in an impressive setting. Located on the West End on a remote lake side bird sanctuary, the restaurant has that tropical paradise feel with a waterfall and a lake full of large fish. The restaurant is adorned with tall thatched ceilings and large woven fans. You can dine on the lakeside patio or in the indoor dining rooms with the colorful macaws, cockatoos and parrots. The menu changes frequently, offering new creative dishes complemented by an excellent wine selection.

Portofino Wreckview Restaurant The popular Southern Italian restaurant is located on the East End of the island away from the tourist center of Seven Mile Beach. The décor has the feeling of dining in a small Southern Italian town, complete with wall paintings and decorations. Outside waterfront dining with wreck views is also available. They serve up well prepared Italian and seafood dishes. For starters, try the beef or chicken skewers served with a cucumber-and-peanut sauce. Popular entrees include; Zuppa di pesce; Breaded conch steak; Turtle steak; and the pasta dishes of shrimp fra diavolo; and Baked seafood Portofino with lobster, shrimp and scallops and potatoes au gratin.

The Reef Grill
Located in the heart of the tourist center of Seven Mile Beach, you can dine under the stars with local background music. They serve up excellent, creatively presented seafood dishes with a Caribbean influence. For starters, try the Roasted-beet salad with goat cheese and toasted pine nuts; or the Sautéed calamari with a jalapeno mayonnaise. Popular favorites include; The coconut grouper with pineapple salsa; and the Red snapper with a creamy polenta-and-tomato compote. They also offer an excellent wine selection.

The Wharf Restaurant
The Wharf, located between Georgetown and Seven Mile Beach, serves up well pre pared seafood with awesome waterfront views. Its waterfront dining at it’s best. The restaurant’s décor is set in soft tones with multi level outdoor dining on the deck and on the beachside terrace. Here you can hear the sounds of the surf and strolling musicians. Popular starters include; The Blue-crab-and-shrimp salad with cucumber and mango; and The Caribbean lobster cake with a roasted-corn relish. Popular entrees include; The Pistachio-crusted sea bass in a creamy champagne sauce; The Pork tenderloin Tortuga baked with sugar cane and a dark rum sauce; and The Grilled-turtle-and-lobster pie with rice and vegetables.
